It didn’t take Greater Sudbury Police officers long to arrest five kids who held up a convenience store on Bancroft Drive using what may have been a gun.

Police said in a release that officers were dispatched to Bancroft Drive just after 8:40 p.m. on Sept. 11.

“Information provided was that a group of youth had entered a convenience store and stole cases of alcohol,” police said. “When the employee approached the youth outside the convenience store, one of the youths displayed what was described as a handgun.”

The youths fled on foot before police were called.

Members of Patrol Operations, the Emergency Response Unit and the K9 Unit arrived to investigate. Officers conducted a K9 track, leading to Second Avenue, where two youths were arrested.
