Sometimes, rich people just aren’t likable. There, I said it. Convincing us mere mortals to sympathize with their problems is the uphill climb playwright Kareem Fahmy attempts in Dodi and Diana, now playing at Atlas Performing Arts Center from Mosaic Theater Company. He doesn’t quite get there.

Even the premise is a bit grating. A finance bro and his actor wife—Jason (Jake Loewenthal) and Samira (Dina Soltan)—check into the Ritz Paris hotel because Jason’s astrologist has decreed that they are the astrological twins of Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed, who stayed at this hotel prior to their untimely deaths 25 years earlier. If Jason and Samira stay put for three days, a mysterious “convergence” will occur. What does that mean? Who knows. Even the play doesn’t seem sure.
