LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — A panel of judges has ruled there will be a special election to fill an empty Lackawanna County commissioner seat.
The Lackawanna County Democratic Executive Committee had filed an injunction with the court to stop that special election.
But a three-judge panel ruled Friday morning against that injunction, meaning the special election can happen this November.
This all stems from the resignation of Democrat Commissioner Matt McGloin back in February.
The democratic committee was set to pick an interim commissioner to fill his spot, but that process has been on hold for months because of a separate lawsuit filed by Commissioner Bill Gaughan.
