PHOENIX — A suspect has been hospitalized after a shooting south of the Valley involving a sheriff’s deputy on Thursday night, authorities announced Friday.

According to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO), the shooting happened near Bisnaga Street and Pinal Avenue in Casa Grande around 11 p.m. on Thursday, after a chase involving deputies and the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS).

PCSO said around 10:30 p.m., deputies were called to assist the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) with a truck that was fleeing from a trooper on Pinal Avenue near Rodeo Road in Casa Grande.
