JAMESTOWN, N.D. — The Jamestown Fire Department extinguished a fire Thursday evening, Sept. 11, in the old kitchen and dining area in the Badal Nafus Center on the University of Jamestown campus.

UJ President Polly Peterson said she is thankful for the Jamestown Fire Department’s quick response and keeping university officials informed.

“We just had a lot of really good people there,” she said. “It’s not unusual to say that. The community of Jamestown is unbelievable, and they got it contained fairly quickly. It was what we hoped. It was contained to the original damaged area.”

Six units and 19 firefighters responded to the UJ campus shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday. When firefighters arrived on the scene, a "significant fire" could be seen in the kitchen and dining area of the Badal Nafu
