MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- With the president declaring the National Guard is coming to Memphis, residents in South Memphis who have experienced violence outside their own homes are saying they don't want it.

Overnight there were two shootings, within a matter of minutes in the Soulsville area.

Just before 11:30 p.m., police saturated East Trigg Avenue and Pond Street.

It was reported by police that a man was shot after an attempted robbery.

A few minutes earlier and a few blocks away, police were called to another shooting.

The victim involved in this shooting made his way to a chair on the porch of a man's home who did not want to be identified.

"I didn't know what was happening. I saw the guy sweating and bleeding, and I asked him to get on the sidewalk and I called 9-1-1," the man said.
