Sheryl Lee Ralph is going into the 2025 Emmy Awards feeling appreciative and confident.
The Abbott Elementary star, who is nominated for best supporting actress for her performance as Barbara Howard in the ABC mockumentary, told Us Weekly exclusively that she is focusing on being present at this year’s show.
“I’m not in competition with anybody but myself. That is it,” Ralph, 68, said while discussing her partnership with GSK on the THRIVE@50+ campaign. “I was in Ghana and someone gave me a scent. On the bottle, it said, ‘Be present.’ It was seared into my brain to be present in the moment. This year, when I look at the category that I’m in that I share with six other wonderful actresses, I see how diverse the group is. How represented women — the women of color, Black women [are]. I’m l
