STATEWIDE -- Having a library card will get you more than just a book.

Later this month, it will also get you into any of Maine’s state parks for free.

September is National Library card sign-up month.

To mark the occasion, the Maine State Library and Maine state parks are partnering to offer a special day of free admission on Saturday, September 20.

All you have to do is show your library card at the entrance.

Visitors are encouraged to bring a book, find a shady spot, and enjoy some quiet reading surrounded by Maine’s natural beauty.
