Again this year, on the first Sunday after Labor Day, Hog Island racers gathered in West Falmouth Harbor to begin a new season. The series began in 1970 when Paul Magnuson and Sloat Hodgson had the idea of organizing fall racing, and it has endured for more than 50 years. Perhaps the simple values of competition, sportsmanship and community reflected in the weekly “meetings” are especially precious in this complicated and divided world. Whatever the reasons, the Hog Island community continues to show up for the fun year after year!
