ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — It was a messy Friday morning as News 8 got a first-hand look at preparations for the Purple Foot, happening this weekend at Casa Larga.

Owner Andrea Colaruotolo O'Neil tossed some grapes for News 8's Oran Spitzer to stomp on, while she explained her family's personal connection to grape stomping.

"My dad is from Italy, a town called Galeta, which is beautiful if anybody wants to visit," O'Neil said. "But he grew up with his grandparents, who had a vineyard, and he would tell me stories about growing up that they actually had to stomp the grapes. But what he would tell me was that they chose women, because women tended to have gentler, softer feet than the men.
