LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Metro council leaders say there’s not enough room for Louisville animal shelters to take in any more strays. Now, they’re proposing legislation they feel will help solve the problem.
On Thursday, Sept. 11, Councilwoman Donna Purvis and Councilman Andrew Owen filed an amendment to the Louisville Code of Ordinances.
Leaders say this could help to save some animals’ lives.
Councilman Owen says the microchipping ordinance, if passed, will help keep pets right where they belong.
“If you are an animal lover, you should be in support of this ordinance,” Owen said. “It will improve animal welfare throughout the city.”
