A strike by hundreds of University of Minnesota service workers is ongoing despite some of them being arrested during a demonstration.

Members of Teamsters Local 320 started striking this week at campuses in the Twin Cities, Duluth, Crookston and Morris, disrupting some services, including maintenance, food service and sanitation. The strike is expected to continue through the weekend and potentially longer.

“It could last anywhere from, you know, the next couple of days to a week to two weeks,” Teamsters spokesperson Gus Froemke told Unicorn Riot on Friday. "People are very energized, they’re ready to go in for the long haul."
