SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. — A list of 14 candidates has been released of individuals who may be the first representatives to sit on San Tan Valley's new town council.
The community of about 100,000 residents existed as an unincorporated area for many years, but now the region will have a council presiding over the operations of the newly created town.
After a recent election resulted in Pinal County residents voting to incorporate San Tan Valley as its own municipality, the county developed a system for determining who would serve as the town's first council members.
The county received 86 applications from interested candidates and 14 people have been selected to interview before the Pinal County Board of Supervisors on Sept. 15.
