OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A student at Westview High School was arrested Friday after driving erratically in the parking lot and fleeing from an officer, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
The student, age 17, aws spotted driving erratically in the parking lot of the school and adjacent YMCA at about 8:52 a.m., authorities said.
Because of the risk being posed to others, the DCSO school resource officer “attempted to de-escalate the student in order to gain compliance,” the report reads.
The student continued to drive dangerously, and the SRO tried to use his Taser on the student, but it was not effective, investigators said.
The student fled in their vehicle, and a pursuit was not initiated. The car and the student were later found at a home near 164th and Ames Avenue.
