BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WBOY) — The Mountaineer Heroes of Honor Foundation held its annual charity golf tournament on Friday at the Bridgeport Country Club.

The foundation is a non-profit dedicated to helping veterans and their families, especially in cases of immediate need and the golf tournament is one of its major fundraisers for the year.

The tournament has helped raise more than $250,000 over the last four years, with Heroes of Honor hoping this year's tournament raises about $100,000.

On Friday, the foundation also gave out about $60,000 to other local organizations that aid veterans, including the Appalachian Trauma and Resiliency Center, Hearts of Gold and the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center.
