People and pets should not enter the water due to toxic algae, Public Health – Seattle & King County said on Friday. Exposure to the cyanotoxins can cause blue-green algae poisoning, especially when dogs drink or swim in contaminated water. Signs are being posted around the lake, according to Seattle Parks and Recreation.

Signs of poisoning can develop rapidly and include seizures, vomiting, tremors and drowsiness. If your dog gets in the water, do not let them lick their fur. Bathe them and wash your hands.
