TROY, Mo. - A burn ban has been issued for residents of the Troy Fire Protection District, officials announced on Friday.

According to the Troy Fire Protection District, there has been a shortage of rainfall, creating hazardous conditions. The weather has also had an impact on the vegetation, officials say.

“Under these conditions, a small fire can rapidly escalate into a large one in seconds, potentially endangering lives and property,” the fire protection district wrote on social media.

The district—which says that it’s monitoring the weather for updates—is calling for residents to avoid any forms of burning until conditions improve and the ban is lifted.
