A 25-year-old Qualicum Beach man lost his Porsche 718 GT4 RS after a BC Highway Patrol stop on the Island Highway near Hillview Road in Nanoose Bay.

According to a press release, on Sept. 3, police saw a black Porsche speed away from two motorcycles that were already well over the 90 km/h limit. The Porsche was clocked at 144 km/h.

Had this driver showed a little restraint, it might have been the motorcycles that were ticketed and impounded, said Cpl. Michael McLaughlin with BC Highway Patrol. Instead, this driver raced straight into the hassle and lost opportunity of watching his expensive car get impounded for seven days. Whatever his reason for buying that car, it probably wasn’t to watch it sit an impound lot while he takes Uber.
