JOHNS ISLAND — The owner of a Lowcountry eatery apologized in a video posted to the business’s Facebook page for comments he made after the slaying of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on Sept. 10 that sparked online backlash and death threats.
In a now-deleted Facebook post, Tattooed Moose owner Mike Kulick questioned why people would eulogize Kirk, citing a previous remark he had made about gun deaths being the cost of having the Second Amendment.
“He was a bully and a provocateur. He most definitely isn’t a martyr," Kulick said in the post. He added that Kirk was “too young to remember America before Columbine” and that his death was “part and parcel of the intolerance he promoted and the innocent lives he was content to write off.”
