The Porterville City Council will begin the process to establish what the community's watering guidelines will be in the coming months at its next meeting. The council will meet in closed session at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday with the open session set to begin at 6:30.

As a consent calendar item the council is set to approve a public hearing to discuss the transition from Phase II when it comes to the city's watering guidelines at its October 7 meeting.

Last May the council voted to transition to Phase II for the summer months which for the first time in more than 10 years allowed watering three times a week. Phase II which is still in effect allows those in the city with odd address to water on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and those with even addresses to water on Wednesdays, Fridays and Su
