(NewsNation) — The life of Charlie Kirk's suspected assassin could be in jeopardy given Utah state law.

Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested and booked into a Utah jail after being taken into custody late Thursday night, around 10 p.m. local time, after confessing to his father.

NewsNation sources said Robinson was on the FBI’s radar Thursday and was initially identified through facial recognition investigative methods.

Robinson is being held at the Utah County Jail in Spanish Fork, about 11 miles south of Utah Valley University.

Utah Valley confirmed Robinson attended one semester at the university's Logan campus as a pre-engineering major. He took a leave of absence after that lone semester.
