WAHPETON, N.D. — A prosecutor accused of misconduct in a sexual assault case against a Wahpeton man who played college football player in his late 40s will let another attorney handle the case.

Richland County State’s Attorney Megan Kummer has asked the North Dakota Attorney General’s Office to step in to prosecute 52-year-old Raymond William David Ruschel, according to court documents made public Friday, Sept. 12. Kummer has appointed Assistant Attorney General Kathleen Murray as a special assistant state’s attorney in the case.

"There are no other implications to be taken from this action other than to remove distractions from the prosecution of this matter and seek justice for the victim involved," Kummer said in a statement to The Forum.
