PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — It’s the final weekend to camp at one of Washington’s most-visited state parks before it closes for construction.
The Cape Disappointment State Park is set to close on Tuesday, Sept. 16, Washington State Parks announced earlier this month. The shutdown is projected to last through late spring or early summer as construction crews renovate the site.
Among the several improvements are a new boardwalk and overlook at Lake O’Neil, a new welcome center, and a new trail in the Three Waters Trail system. Upgrades also include a replaced culvert along the campground access road, improved traffic flow at the park entrance and fresh wetland and habitat protection for animals.
Throughout the next several months, the site’s campground loops A, B and C will be closed. Loop D
