A town of Enfield employee has died after being involved in a crash between a town Department of Public Works lawnmower and a car, according to police.

They said the crash happened around 12:15 p.m. on North Main Street, next to town hall and the victim, Jamie Nickerson, was been transported to Baystate Hospital to be treated for his injuries where he later died, police said.

Police said the other driver, a good Samaritan, and a local fire chief worked to extinguish a fire and help the town employee.

The other driver also suffered serious injuries and has been transported from the scene by East Windsor EMS to St. Francis Hospital.
