PELHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Officer involved shootings are an issue playing out all across the country, and one even happened Friday in Homewood.

Now, the Pelham Police Chief is bringing in experts from out of state to better equip his officers.

Each and every day, when officers leave the Pelham Police Department, they pass Philip Davis Street.

Pelham Police Officer Philip Davis was shot and killed during a traffic stop on I-65 back in 2009, a tragedy that Chief Edward Delmore never wants to happen again.

“We’ve been trying to up our game in terms of the training that we’re doing for our in service officers and we’ve been bringing in experts,” Delmore said.
