GRANDY, N.C. — A K-9 named Arty helped to arrest a woman in North Carolina who had stashed methamphetamine in her car.
On Thursday, deputies with the Currituck County Sheriff's Office responded to the 6300 block of Caratoke Highway after someone had reported a motor vehicle accident, but that the driver had fled the scene.
Deputies were able to locate the suspect's vehicle a short distance away. As deputies arrived, however, the driver was seen removing items from the vehicle and appeared to be impaired.
During the investigation, deputies saw drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. A K-9 unit from Southern Shores that had already been in the area conducted air sniff around the vehicle.
The K-9, named Arty, then gave a positive indication for the presence of narcotics.
