SUMTER, S.C. — Sumter County deputies have arrested a man they say is responsible for the murder of two women found dead in a field last month.

Sheriff Anthony Dennis announced late Friday afternoon that 29-year-old Tiamo Henry Mitchell Drakeford was taken into custody and charged with murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and descration of human remains.

Back on August 8, 38-year-old Kristen N. Grissom of North Charleston and 35-year-old Christine Marie McAbee of Walterboro were found dead in a rural area off Richbow Road. The victims are believed to have known each other.

Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker confirmed that McAbee’s death was a homicide caused by a gunshot wound. However, Grissom's cause of death could not be determined initially and investigators ar
