BARTLETT, Tenn. -- The mother of a crime victim and a Bartlett man afraid of crime in Memphis are putting out the welcome mat for the National Guard.
Charles Moore, who has lived in Bartlett for 35 years, voiced his concerns about crime in Memphis, stating that he and his wife are apprehensive about visiting the city due to safety issues.
He said his wife is afraid of what will happen if she makes the trip alone.
"A purse snatching, anything that's not normal. I mean, why shouldn't a lady be able to go down to the nearest grocery store, or a Walgreens, or someplace like that?" said Moore.
He said MPD needs more officers, and the National Guard can help.
Thursday, a Bartlett Police officer was injured and a suspect was killed in a shooting in Frayser.
