The Gadsden-Mayfield football game, originally scheduled for 7 p.m. on Sept. 12 at the Field of Dreams, has been postponed to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, due to inclement weather.
Las Cruces Public Schools had delayed the kickoff by 30 minutes at around 5:30 p.m. due to thunderstorms in the area. The New Mexico Activities Association says in their rulebook that teams should wait 30 minutes "after the last thunder is heard or flash of lightning is witnessed" before resuming play or kicking off. If lightning is seen after the 30-minute countdown has started, the timer is reset to 30 minutes again.
The delay continued as lightning was still visible, and rain continued to pour on the Field of Dreams before LCPS eventually decided to postpone the game until the following morning. Fans were
