JONES COUNTY, Ga. — A 24-year-old woman died after a car accident in Jones County on Friday night, according to Jones County Deputy Coroner Wayne Grier.

Grier said a female pedestrian was walking near the intersection of Gray Highway and Joycliff Road around 8:25 p.m. on Friday, when she was struck by a car.

Jones County Sheriff Butch Reece said the woman was in critical condition after the crash, and was taken to a local hospital. She was pronounced dead shortly after, Reece said.

Reece said the situation is still under investigation, and could not share any identifying details about the car involved in the accident at this time. He did not confirm if any arrests had been made in the situation.
