FAIRBURN, Ga. — Two students were taken to the hospital on Friday after a knife fight at Langston Hughes High School in Fairburn, according to a Fulton County Schools official.

The incident started after a fight broke out between two students. The school was placed on a hard lockdown after a knife was recovered and safely secured by Fulton County Police and school personnel, district officials said.

District officials could not clarify whether one student or both students were injured by the knife, but they did say that both students received medical attention and were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A mother said her daughter was at the school when they went into the hard lockdown.
