PHILADELPHIA -- Phillies shortstop Edmundo Sosa -- starting in place of the injured Trea Turner -- departed Friday night's 8-2 win over the Royals at Citizens Bank Park in the bottom of the seventh inning with right groin tightness.

The team initially listed Sosa as day to day, but he will be examined more on Saturday. Sosa appeared hobbled a couple of times throughout the game, including after lunging for Tyler Tolbert's single up the middle in the top of the seventh inning. Sosa was lifted for pinch-hitter Weston Wilson in the bottom half with the Phils leading 6-2.

Sosa's departure came just four days after the club placed both Turner and third baseman Alec Bohm on the injured list. Sosa has filled in as the primary shortstop in Turner's absence, while Otto Kemp was recalled from
