DELTA — In a back and forth battle in a Northwest Ohio Athletic League opener, Archbold emerged with a extremely hard fought 36-30 victory over Delta on Friday night.
Archbold sophomore quarterback Maddox Pinter orchestrated a comeback.
Down by two with 6:05 left, Archbold took over at its own 35 and Pinter went to work. Pinter completed five passes on the drive, and running back Ryder Ryan scored on a two-yard run. The two-point conversion was good as the Blue Steaks went up 36-30 with 2:40 left.
Delta's Alex York returned the ensuing kickoff 44 yards. Panthers QB Emric Friess then completed his first pass of the game, a 28-yarder to Gunner Taylor, to put the team in scoring position.
Archbold's Aranjer Krieger, however, sealed the game with an interception in the end zone.
