OMAHA, Neb. —
Nearly 500 volunteers in Omaha spent Friday working with 28 nonprofits, filling food bags, doing yard work, and painting as part of an annual day of caring.
Employees from Blue Cross and Blue Shield have been volunteering for several years now, and they say it's a great chance to get out of the office while supporting a great mission.
"We have a good time, you know? They keep us pretty busy, but we really do, enjoy getting together and doing something outside of work and supporting a good cause," Leah Bond said.
Organizers said the event couldn't come at a better time for local nonprofits.
