Women’s harassment out of control online

When we think of violence against women, we often picture domestic abuse, female feticide, street harassment or human trafficking. But another form of violence is often overlooked: online harassment and violations of privacy, even when women are speaking out against other forms of violence.

For me, this happened when I said that secretly increasing a spouse’s calories without their knowledge should be grounds for divorce. The internet responded by attacking my weight and appearance, ignoring that I have a medical condition that causes weight gain.
