GRAND FORKS — Grand Forks Central’s Eli Thompson broke his leg in the first game of the 2024 football season, returning only for the final two games.

This year has been a different story.

Thompson announced his commitment to Minnesota State Moorhead before the start of the season, and three games into his senior year, he’s proven to be a difference-maker for the Knights.

Thompson was a force player on both sides of the ball Friday night at Cushman Field, helping Central improve to 3-0 with a dominating 44-21 victory over Dickinson.

“I’ve been so excited to play, especially because last year I was limited to only three games,” Thompson said. “It’s great getting back and playing with my guys, and we're playing great.”

Both of Thompson’s game-altering plays came in the second quarter.
