VALPARAISO — Michigan City isn’t supposed to beat Valparaiso — especially on the road.

The Wolves entered Friday with a 4-29 all-time record against their Duneland Athletic Conference rival. They hadn’t picked up a win in Valparaiso since 2007. So, when Vikings quarterback Kellan Hosek’s 30-yard touchdown pass to go up 14-7 in the third quarter was immediately followed by a City interception, fans could be forgiven for thinking an inevitable Valpo win was creeping in.

This year’s Michigan City (3-1, 2-0 DAC) team is different, though. It had other plans, rattling off three unanswered touchdowns before ultimately pulling off a 27-21 win — the first for the program over Valparaiso (1-3, 1-1 DAC) since 2021.
