An officer shot and injured a student at the United States Naval Academy in Maryland during a lockdown started by online threats from a former student.
The midshipman had mistakenly attacked the officer, thinking they were the threat, according to NBC News.
The military school was put on lockdown Thursday, and a building was cleared in response to the anonymous online threats made to the military school, NBC News reported . The Naval Support Activity Annapolis posted about the incident around 5:45 p.m.
The shooting happened after the midshipman hit the officer with a parade rifle used for training, according to NBC News.
The midshipman was hospitalized and is expected to be OK.
