A MAN wanted on outstanding warrants has again failed to appear in court after allegedly being found in a hotel room with cannabis.

Adam William Bunt, 49, was due to appear in Armidale Local Court on Monday, September 8.

He was charged with possessing a prohibited drug.

No pleas were entered, and Bunt was convicted of the offence in his absence.

In a statement tendered to the court, police claimed Bunt had been staying at St Kilda Hotel, in Rusden Street, Armidale.

Following a tip-off, police went to the room in which Bunt was staying at the hotel about 10.30am on Wednesday, July 16.

"Bunt was placed under arrest for outstanding warrants," police claimed.

"While dressing himself, officers searched [Bunt's] pants and found a bag containing cannabis."
