With food prices depressingly high and showing no sign of coming down, shoppers are facing an uphill battle to afford just the essentials.

Earlier this week it was revealed that more than 14 million people are facing hunger in the UK, with nearly three in 10 households (30 per cent) using food banks coming from working families.

The research from anti-poverty charity Trussell showed that the area with the highest proportion of households in food insecurity was the North West, at over a quarter of all people (26 per cent).

So it stands to reason that people are looking to make savings wherever they can.
