MIAMI — Before taking himself out of a game for the first time in his career, Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal felt something he had never felt before – pain in his left side.
“Honestly, the first warmup throw,” Skubal said .
He felt it while warming up before the fourth inning against the Miami Marlins on Friday, Sept. 12 at loanDepot Park. But he tried to fight through it. He finished the warmup throws and started the inning.
“Then, it didn't get worse, but just didn't go away,” Skubal said.
