Drivers have been criticised for blocking the M3 motorway after an incident as impatient motorists tried to turn around at the road closure.

Part of the M3 was blocked in Surrey due to a medical emergency.

The busy motorway was closed briefly in both directions between J2 M25 and J3 Bagshot for the air ambulance to land.

Some motorists got impatient while the emergency crews responded and tried to turn around. National Highways told the motorists off for holding up traffic as it was being released.

Footage shows people stepping out of their vehicles and waiting outside their cars on the carriageway, which could be dangerous.
