Records were eaten Friday night in New Haven.

The city set a new Guinness World Record for the world’s largest pizza party with 4,525 pizza party participants, according to officials .

The record-breaking pizza party, hosted by Taste of New Haven in partnership with city officials, earned the title as part of the 10th annual Apizza Feast , surpassing the existing pizza party record of 3,357 people set in Tulsa, Okla. in 2023. All participants were required to eat at least two slices of pizza.

“New Haven has once again demonstrated its pizza supremacy, and why the Elm City is the pizza capital of the country and the world,” said Mayor Justin Elicker in a press release. “With 4,525 pizza party participants, the love for pizza and New Haven was literally palpable and on clear display.
