The Boston Red Sox once again stumbled against a young New York Yankees pitcher who has their number.

Luis Gil threw six hitless innings in Friday’s 4-1 win over Boston at Fenway Park. The 27-year-old now has a 0.99 ERA in five career starts against the Red Sox.

That gives Gil the lowest ERA of any Yankees pitcher against the Red Sox in a minimum of five starts, according to Stathead’s Katie Sharp .

Four years ago, Gil held Boston scoreless over 4 2/3 innings in his third career start, a seven-inning doubleheader shutout. He stymied the Red Sox to four hits and one run in each of his two turns against Boston during last year’s American League Rookie of the Year campaign.
