STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Legislation that would remove parking spaces near intersections throughout the city is among the topics to be discussed next week at one of several public Staten Island Community Board meetings.

Intro 1138, a bill proposed by the City Council, would universally remove parking spots near intersections to improve pedestrian visibility when crossing the road — a process known as “daylighting.”

Staten Island Borough President Vito Fossella has voiced opposition to the legislation.

Other topics to be discussed are bus lanes on Victory Boulevard, liquor license and cannabis applications throughout the borough and zoning waivers for several building proposals.
