The Toronto District School Board is investigating a teacher for allegedly showing a graphic video of the fatal shooting of American conservative activist Charlie Kirk to fifth- and sixth-grade students. The incident took place at Corvette Junior Public School in Scarborough on Thursday.

Principal Jennifer Koptie informed parents and guardians in a letter that the video was shown by a teacher supervising the class, who was not the students' homeroom teacher. This action was reportedly in response to students' questions about Kirk's death. Koptie described the situation as "extremely troubling and completely unacceptable" and emphasized the seriousness of the matter.

In light of the incident, the teacher has been relieved of all teaching duties while the investigation is ongoing. Koptie stated that she would visit the class alongside a social worker to provide support to the students, who will have access to social work resources.

Kirk was shot in the neck while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. Following the incident, graphic videos of the shooting circulated online. Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested on Friday and faces charges of aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily harm, and obstruction of justice.

Kirk was known for his far-right activism and was a longtime ally of former U.S. President Donald Trump. In a related incident, an associate professor at the University of Toronto was placed on leave after posting a controversial reaction to Kirk's shooting on social media.
