A rare display of shooting stars may make their appearance in the sky this weekend as a rare meteor show is set to peak.

The Chi Cygnids meteor shower occurs in mid-September every year, but it is only once every five years that it produces noticeable shooting stars.

Stargazers witnessed significant activity in 2010, 2015 and 2020, and 2025 looks set to feature an increase in meteors.

According to reports, the shower is showing increased activity this week.

The peak of activity is expected from tonight, September 13 to September 15, 2025.
