Nine arrests have been made at the 'United the Kingdom' event in London today, with 'many more' likely according to police.

The Met Police said "many more people" had been "identified as committing offences" at the protest led by far-right activist Tommy Robinson.

They added: "We will find them and they will face police action, even if it is not possible to do so today.

Violence flared at the protest as Scotland Yard said police officers were assaulted as they faced 'significant aggression' from protesters.

Around 110,000 people were estimated by police to have gathered in Whitehall for the demo, which faced counter-protests by around 5,000 anti-racism campaigners.
