RCMP Major Crimes unit was on the scene just outside of Weyburn last night, following what they deemed a "suspicious death".

According the the RCMP release, RCMP received a report of a person injured in an SUV traveling on Highway 39, roughly three kilometers northwest of Weyburn, near the Richardson Pioneer and Viterra terminals.

Further investigation led them to determine that two adult females were traveling together in a black Ford Explorer, heading towards Weyburn, when a firearm was discharged, which hit the passenger in the Ford Explorer, a 44-year-old woman from Weyburn. RCMP reports that she died on the scene, and her family has been notified.
