PORTAGE, Mich. — A controversial exchange at an Office Depot in Portage on Friday is taking off on social media after a video was posted to X showing an employee refusing to print a poster involving Charlie Kirk.

The customer in the exchange identified himself on X as James Asher. According to his account bio, Asher is on the board of the Michigan Young Republicans .

Asher said on X that earlier in the day on Friday, he had ordered a poster to be printed for a vigil honoring conservative activist Charlie Kirk following his shooting death on Wednesday.

He said 30 minutes before the setup of the vigil, an Office Depot employee called and said they wouldn't print the poster. Asher said he was told it was "because it was for Charlie Kirk."
